Go back to the roots and push your boundaries.
If you want to learn about the roots of swing and Lindy Hop, there is no way around Africa. We are delighted to welcome the Smile Trio coming all the way from Mozambique for this very special party and workshop weekend.
The Smile Trio are three professional artists fro the Hodi Maputo Afro Swing Cultural Association in Mozambique.
Since 2003, they have been working as ambassadord for the african culture, using dance and music as instruments of change and universal communication. During their 15 years of career, they had the opportunity of participating in important festivals and cultural events in countries such as: China, South Africa, Brazil, Belgium, United States of America, United Arab Emirates, France, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Ivory Coast, Eswathini, e.t.c…
The purpose of their workshops is to share their experiences about Mozambican dance, music, traditional music instruments, languages and the history of the people through dance. They also explore different kind of Mozambican dance concepts, from ceremonial and festive dances, and dances of resistance. Since the swingdance is around in Mozambique they have been researching about African influences into Afro-American dances, and try to bring the spirit and the values of dance to all dance lovers. They teach dance and percussion for adults, children, and everyone that is curious about dance, music and learning about African culture. Most of the classes are done with live music and singing.
