Trefft alte Bekannte, lernt neue Freunde kennen und teilt eure Leidenschaft für Swing und Blues auf dem 1. Swingin‘ the Blues Exchange im Rhein Main Gebiet.
Auf euch warten neun Stunden open-level Blues-Kurse in drei Tracks an drei Tagen und drei Konzerte in drei benachbarten Städten, die euch in ihren Swing/Blues-Szenen willkommen heißen.

Party -> Wir starten am Donnerstag, den 30.4.2026 mit Lindy-Hop und der MBR Bigband im Haus der Jugend in Mainz zum Swing in den Mai.
Social -> Bei schönem Wetter erwartet euch am nächsten Morgen (1. Mai) in Mainz ein Swing-Brunch am Rheinufer (bei schlechtem Wetter weichen wir in die Halle für die Workshops aus). Bringt was Leckeres fürs Buffet mit und packt eure (Outdoor)-Tanzschuhe sowie gute Laune ein, um die angefutterten Kalorien gleich wieder in Bewegung umzusetzen.
Workshop 1 (Improve your basics and connect) -> Im Anschluss begrüßen euch Erwan und Cora zum ersten Blues-Workshop indem wir eure Basics aufpolieren und an den Connection arbeiten, so dass sich euer Bluestanz leichter, runder und musikalischer anfühlt.
Party -> Am Abend geht’s am anderen Rheinufer in Wiesbaden-Biebrich weiter im Tri Mare mit Martin Burguez‘ großartigen Groovy Four aus Paris/Barcelona – als besonderes Upgrade begleitet von Alberto Burguez am Piano. Musikalische Inspiration liefern Jazzgitarristen der 30er und 40er Jahre wie Charly Christian und Tiny Grimes. Es wird schnell und heiß. Ob es beim Blues bleibt oder Balboa bzw. Fast Lindy getanzt wird, entscheidet ihr.
Workshop 2 (Rhythms & Isolations) /Social -> Der 2. Mai startet entspannt mit dem zweiten Workshop oder einem inspirierenden Tag in Offenbach. Wer sich für den Workshop entschiedet, den erwartet der „Groovin‘ the Rhythm“-Workshop. Macht euch startklar für den Abend und verfeinert eure Danceskills mit mehr Rhythmusgefühl und Isolations für mehr Spaß auf der Tanzfläche.
Party -> Und weil es keine bessere Band gibt, um am Abend das frisch Erlernte und Altbewährte aufs Parkett zu bringen, spielen die Groovy Four + 1 in den Parkside Studios in Offenbach ihr tanzbarstes Classic Blues und Rhythm & Blues Programm, nur für euch und ganz exklusiv.
Workshop 3 (Groovin‘ the Rhythm) -> Den Sonntag lassen wir beim letzten Workshop des Exchanges, dem Solotrack ausklingen.
Social -> Anschließend runden wir das Wochenende mit einem gemeinsamen Abendessen in den Parkside Studios ab – entspannt zusammensitzen, quatschen, nochmal lachen und das Exchange gemeinsam ausklingen lassen.

Workshop Details
Wir beginnen dort, wo der Blues im Körper seinen Ursprung hat. Anhand von Standard-Bewegungsabläufen, Dehnübungen und Verzögerungen werden in diesem Kurs der Puls, die Elastizität und das Timing entdeckt, die dem Tanz seine Tiefe verleihen. Das Ziel ist nicht nur, die Figuren zu lernen, sondern zu entdecken, was sie zum Leben erweckt. Neueinsteiger erhalten einen soliden und leicht zugänglichen Einstieg. Erfahrenere Tänzer finden hier mehr Details, mehr Kontraste und mehr Kontrolle.
Wir gehen noch einen Schritt weiter und übertragen diese Qualität auf schnellere Blues-Stücke. In diesen Kursen beschäftigen wir uns mit Juke-Joint-Rhythmen, der Erforschung von Körperbewegungen und dem Chicago-Triple-Vokabular, wobei wir an Step-Touch, Four Corners, Isolations, Shimmies, Fußarbeit und einer reaktionsschnellen Partnerverbindung arbeiten. Der Unterricht bleibt direkt und körperorientiert. Neueinsteiger gewinnen Selbstvertrauen in Bezug auf Rhythmus und Koordination. Erfahrenere Tänzer verfeinern ihren Groove, ihre Ausdruckskraft und das Gefühl für den Tanz von innen heraus.
Wir erweitern den Dialog zwischen Solo-, Paartanz und der Musik selbst. In diesen Kursen werden wir uns mit der 12-taktigen Blues-Struktur, passendem Solomaterial, verschiedenen Stilrichtungen und Übergängen zwischen den unterschiedlichen Rhythmen beschäftigen, damit Musikalität für die Tänzer*innen zu etwas wird, das sie hören, fühlen und anwenden können. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf Phrasierung, Entscheidungsfindung und Präsenz. Neueinsteiger*innen erhalten Werkzeuge, auf die sie sich verlassen können. Erfahrenere Tänzer*innen finden mehr Freiheit, mehr Präzision und mehr Raum für ihre persönliche Ausdruckskraft.

Vom ersten Moment an, als sie vor vielen Jahren mit dem Swing-Tanzen in Berührung kam, verliebte sich Cora Hals über Kopf – nicht nur in einen Stil, sondern in die gesamte facettenreiche und fröhliche Welt des Swing. Als der Blues-Tanz in ihr Leben trat, eröffnete sich ihr ein ganz neues Universum, das Tiefe, Intimität und eine besondere Art von Magie mit sich brachte, die ihr seitdem sehr am Herzen liegt.
Cora fühlt sich auf den Tanzflächen Europas zu Hause, wo man sie oft bis in die frühen Morgenstunden tanzen sieht und wo sie ihre Leidenschaft für Musik auch hinter dem DJ-Pult teilt. Sie lebt in Frankfurt am Main und ist tief in ihrer lokalen Tanzszene verwurzelt, wo sie ihre Liebe zum Tanz in die Organisation von Partys und Festivals sowie in den Unterricht von regelmäßigen Kursen und Workshops einfließen lässt.
Meine erste Begegnung mit Blues fand als Teenager beim Erlernen der akustischen Bluesgitarre statt. Damals lernte ich als (sehr) unerfahrener Spieler die 12-Bar-Blues-Struktur kennen und war begeistert davon. Viel später, im Jahr 2014, entdeckte ich in Rennes (Frankreich) bei Nicolas Naman und Virginie Walker den Blues als Tanz (ich begann mit Blues noch vor Lindy-Hop). Ich habe ein ausgeprägtes Gespür für die Verbindung im Paar, als eine Art, mit der Musik zu spielen und sie zu teilen. Dann folgten viele, viele Kurse und Festivals in ganz Europa mit Lehrern wie Anne Hélène und Bernard, Vicci und Adamo, Lisa und Fabien, Alba und Gas, Caroline und Cédric, Mélanie und Albert sowie anderen, ebenfalls brillanten Lehrern. In den letzten Jahren hatte ich die Gelegenheit, Blues und Lindy in Rennes und an einigen anderen Orten zu unterrichten, und ich nahm auch an einigen Wettbewerben teil (M&M und Strictly), manchmal sogar mit Erfolg 😅. Ich habe mich mehr mit Blues-Idiomen beschäftigt und mich in letzter Zeit dem Solotanz geöffnet und spiele damit auch im Paartanz. Vor kurzem habe ich mich daran gewagt, Balboa zu lernen, und würde nun gerne eine Party mit Balboa beginnen und mit Blues beenden. Musik, Partner, Verbindungen

Meet old acquaintances, make new friends, and share your passion for swing and blues at the 1st Swingin‘ the Blues Exchange in the Rhine-Main area.
Nine hours of open-level blues classes in three tracks over three days await you, as well as three concerts in three neighboring cities that welcome you to their swing/blues scenes.

Party -> We’ll kick things off on Thursday, April 30, 2026, with Lindy Hop and the MBR Big Band at the Haus der Jugend in Mainz for a swing into May.
Social -> If the weather is nice, a swing brunch will be waiting for you the next morning (May 1) on the banks of the Rhine in Mainz (if the weather is bad, we’ll move indoors for the workshops). Bring something tasty for the buffet and pack your (outdoor) dancing shoes and good mood so you can burn off those calories right away.
Workshop 1 (Improve your basics and connect) -> Afterwards, Erwan and Cora will welcome you to the first blues workshop, where we will brush up on your basics and work on your connection so that your blues dancing feels easier, smoother, and more musical.
Party -> In the evening, the party continues on the other side of the Rhine in Wiesbaden-Biebrich at Tri Mare with Martin Burguez’s great Groovy Four from Paris/Barcelona – accompanied by Alberto Burguez on piano as a special upgrade. Musical inspiration will be provided by jazz guitarists of the 30s and 40s such as Charly Christian and Tiny Grimes. It will be fast and hot. Whether you stick to the blues or dance Balboa or Fast Lindy is up to you.
Workshop 2 (Rhythms & Isolations) /Social -> May 2 starts off relaxed with the second workshop or an inspiring day in Offenbach. Those who opt for the workshop can look forward to the “Groovin‘ the Rhythm” workshop. Get ready for the evening and refine your dance skills with more rhythm and isolation for more fun on the dance floor.
Party -> And because there’s no better band to put your newly learned and tried-and-true skills to the test in the evening, the Groovy Four + 1 will be playing their most danceable classic blues and rhythm & blues program at Parkside Studios in Offenbach, just for you and exclusively.
Workshop 3 (Groovin‘ the Rhythm) -> We’ll end Sunday with the last workshop of the exchange, the solo track.
Social -> We’ll round off the weekend with dinner together at Parkside Studios – sitting together in a relaxed atmosphere, chatting, laughing again, and bringing the Exchange to a close together.

Workshop Details
We begin where blues begins in the body. Through ballrooming vocabulary, stretch, and delay, these classes will uncover the pulse, elasticity, and timing that give the dance its depth. The aim is not just to learn shapes, but to discover what makes them breathe. Newer dancers will get a strong and accessible entry point. More experienced dancers will find more detail, more contrast, and more control.
We dig further by taking that quality into faster blues. These classes will move through juke-joint rhythms, body movement exploration, and Chicago triple vocabulary, with work on step touch, four corners, isolations, shimmies, grounded footwork, and responsive partner connection. The material will stay concrete and physical. Newer dancers will build confidence in rhythm and coordination. More experienced dancers will refine groove, texture, and how the dance feels from the inside.
We widen the conversation between solo dance, couple dance, and music itself. These classes will explore 12-bar blues structure, solo material, mixed idioms, and transitions between different rhythms, so musicality becomes something dancers can hear, feel, and use. The focus will be on phrasing, choice, and presence. Newer dancers will gain tools they can trust. More experienced dancers will find more freedom, more specificity, and more room for personal voice.
Teacher
From the very first moment she encountered swing dancing many years ago, Cora fell head over heels in love — not just with one style, but with the entire rich and joyful world of swing. When Blues dancing entered her life, a whole new universe opened up, adding depth, intimacy, and a special kind of magic that has stayed close to her heart ever since.
Cora feels at home on dance floors across Europe, where she can often be found dancing until the early morning hours and also sharing her musical passion from behind the DJ booth. Based in Frankfurt, Germany, she is deeply rooted in her local dance community, where she pours her love for dance into organizing parties and festivals, teaching regular classes and workshops.
My first link with Blues is about acoustic blues guitar as a teenager. I learned the 12 bar blues structure back then, as a (very) amator player and loved it. Far later, in 2014, I discovered blues dancing in Rennes (France) with Nicolas Naman and Virginie Walker (started Blues before Lindy). Highly sensitive to couple connections, as a way to play with music and share it. Then, many many classes and festivals over Europe with teachers including Anne Hélène and Bernard, Vicci and Adamo, Lisa and Fabien, Alba and Gas, Caroline and Cédric, Mélanie and Albert, and others also brillant. Over the last years, I had the opportunity to teach Blues and Lindy in Rennes and in a few other places, and I also took part in some competitions (M&M and strictly), even sometimes with results 😅, worked more on blues idioms, and opened myself lately to more solo dancing, and playing with it in couple dancing. I recently lent myself in learning Balboa and would now love starting a party with Balboa and ending it with Blues. Music, partner, connections 🙂
